NTFS= yes, more secured, more efficient allocation. FAT32= faster caching, compatible with previous OS's, support dual boot for WIN 9x. ME, Linux.
If you don't shared the PC with anyone else, stay with FAT32.
Have a good day...

Hello Mergon, I tend to agree with Jupiter (response #2) I have formatted and installed XP on both Fat32 and NTFS , in my opinion , FAT32 was alittle faster.

I can assure you that you won't notice a speed difference. I suppose if you had a benchmark program and could measure it you may see a difference one way or another. As mentioned, the big thing for NTFS is security, file encryption and compression.
NTFS is a more reliable format as well. For most home users that don't require the security, FAT32 is fine. You can try FAT32 and if you then want to try NTFS you can convert from FAT32 to NTFS without data loss. However if you want to convert from NTFS to FAT32 you'll need a third party program to do that.

I agree 100% that FAT32 is the way to go unless you absolutely need the security of NTFS.
Don't get the idea that NTFS is more secure online, it isn't.

//Kinel Oh yes it is for example .. How many unix hackers can access ntfs 5.0 or higher? and how many win 9x users?? Most hackers are in the unix/linux world so i think you dont know what you are talking about there..

Summary: Fat32 is faster than ntfs but not noticable. The slow down is cause by your 128MB memory not fat32 or ntfs. If you upgrade to 256MB your window will be much smoother. And the other cause is your on bo...
