Back ground: I got a new system and managed to get my old XP installed HD to retain everything in the new system. I went to add in a second 40G HD and only had a nt format option with no fat32 option. Is there a partition size limit? Did a couple of searches here but gave up looking. It formatted in nt no problem but I want to install a 98 or me OS on it for a couple of non xp things so. . Thanks in advance for any help.

Delpart.exe From NT 3.51, this utility can delete extended NTFS, Lilo, and just about any other type of partition . DELPART is a DOS based utility that will remove NTFS partitions from hard drives. FDISK is unable to remove some types of NTFS partitions. DELPART can wipe clean a hard drive, then you can use FDISK to create partitions normally.

There is a 2 terabyte limit for a FAT32 partition. However the partitioning program in XP will only go to 32 gigs. You will need a third pary application to format the whole 40 gigs.
