Hi all!
I posted a couple of days ago a message (subject: SSH failed to fetch remote ip address) to solve my problem ... but I can not succedd inspite of the suggestion :-((((Help me!
I have 2 computers (1 desktop, 1 laptop) and a wireless router connecting them.
I am using SSH and SFTP to connect them.
The strange problem is that from the PC to the laptop I gain the access by SSH; in the other direction (SSH client on the laptop), the server of the PC gives me back the error "Failed to fetch remote IP address".I have checked that:
- port forwarding on the router is enabled;
- firewall on the router is disabled;
- windows firewall is disabled as well!Can anyone suggest anything? I believe the problem is in the laptop network configuration, but where (and what) can I search for?
Thanks in advance to all!!!
Sasha

It is my understanding that SSH is an outdated protocol.
Stop using it and use TCP/IP unless you have to use it for some specific reason.Otherwise, after looking into your problem from your other thread, I don't have any other answers for you.

Bryan

Dear Sasha, below my answer:
The client's public host key must be in the server's known-hosts list. The known-hosts list is a combination of a global list, plus any entries present in the per-user known-hosts list of the target account (unless per-user known-hosts lists have been turned off in the server). In SSH2, the public keys of the known hosts are in separate files in a directory, as opposed to being entries in a single file.
Take care that you use the canonical name of the client host from the server's point of view, when adding the client host's public key to the server's known-hosts list. That is, if the SSH connection is coming from the address 192.168.10.1, then you want the result of doing gethostbyname(192.168.10.1) on the server. Note that this can involve multiple naming services, since gethostbyname can be configured to consult multiple sources to determine a translation (e.g. DNS, NIS, /etc/hosts).hope this helps
