I was trying to install SP2 and Igot an error message about halfway through saying it couldn't load some dll. I rebooted the machine, but just before it shut down there was an error message saying that SP2 didn't complete and so Windows may not function properly. Since then whenever I boot up Windows, just before the logon screen, the system just goes into a reboot loop. I tried rebooting into safe mode ... no joy! Same result. I tried rebooting into Safe Mode with Command Prompt but again the same result. I cannot boot from CD - doesn't seem to work for some reason! Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can reboot my machine in order to access System Restore? I just want to get my PC back again, and forget SP2!!!!

If you have a proper XP, not a recovery disk, then you can undertake a Repair Install:

Just tried using my set up disks and got an error message saying that Windows Recovery cannot find any HDDs attached to my system!!! I went into the BIOS, and under the Hard Disk tab the disks are there, but under the Primary IDE is says Not Detected!! Any ideas why SP2 has shut down my Primary IDE channel, and how to get it back?
