Comment:

Why would both the search keys 'quick' and 'launch' fail to locate Quick Launch, (when 'Hide system files' has been UNticked) ?

I am not sure why your search failed.
Quick Launch Bar is a two-faced entity. On the one hand it is a toolbar on your desktop where you place the most used shortcuts. On the other hand it is a folder on your disk that contains shortcuts. As it is considered as a system folder it is quite difficult to get to it using Windows Explorer. Usually the full path to Quick Launch looks very similar to:

C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Hope this helps

I am aware of both those 'facts' . MY concern is with SEARCH pretending that Quick Launch [can't be found]/[does not exist].
