Comment:

i encountered a problem while XP was installing and I had to restart the installation over. The second attempt was successful but now everytime the computer starts, I'm prompted to select which O/S I wish to start. They both read exactly the same. The top choice is good installation and the second choice is the failed install. Any ideas on how to get rid of that second option would be much appreciated.

:) glad someone else had same problem. its easy to fix, but MAKE SURE u delete the right one. follow thease instructions.

1, start>progs>accesories>command prompt
2, type cd\
3, copy this in "attrib -r -h -s boot.ini" (no speech marks)
4, now go to c:\ or whatever root drive is and open boot.ini in notepad and delete the line that you dont need MAKE SURE ITS THE RIGHT ONE!.

step 1 2 and 3 might not be nesisary if u can see boot.ini already ( c:\boot.ini )

Thanks! That worked perfectly!!! The one to delete was marked with the same number, ie. 1 or 2, as the choices on the startup menu. I deleted the corresponding line and it worked like a charm.

Great Job!
