So, this happened a while back when I was trying to merge partitions with my C:\ drive and my data drive. Bad idea, I learned the hard way not to do it and now I have an empty partition where my D:\ drive used to be. My C:\ drive works fine but now theres files still on my D:\ that says its unpartitioned, is there anyway to exract those files?

Try ULTIMATE BOOT DISK. It has some partition repair tools that help rebuild lost or missing partition tables.

For PM8, see PM8.PDF, look under Managing Partitions/Undeleting Partitions.

I recovered files from XP with a scrambled directory by booting up off a Knoppix Linux CD (the whole OS runs off the CD. Linux could see the files because it doesn't depend on the windows directory--then I copied the files to a windows partition on another drive. The version of Knoppix version I had would not write to and NTFS formatted disk but would to the older windows format. The newer versions of Knoppix may both read and write to NTFS --I don't know.
