i have various video files. would i be able to somehow extract the audio from it so i can have a seperate audio file with the sound from teh video file. is there such sftware that can do this or some sort of tool on media player or something like that?

VirtualDub. Open video from file menu, default is save wav. However you can go into audio menu select full processing, then compression and use mp3 or whatever codecs installed on your machine. An mp3 will have a wav extension.

I use CoolEdit Pro 3. I use it to take sounds for nextel ringtones. Works peachy.
To extract audio from video files you can use Video to mp3 extractor pro 2.0 I use it to Extract audio fron several files at the same time. It has batch function which is very convenient. It is here: http://www.geovid.com/download/video-mp3-extractor-pro.exe
PPS - there is also a free version... But it doesn't allow you to work with several files at the same time...
