I am trying to back up my C drive, which has about 35 GB on it, to a WD external hard drive, which has over 100 GB free. I am using Retrospect 6.5, which came with the hard drive. After about 4-5 GB of back up has occurred, it get an error message that the WD disc is full. I have degramented and run other test of WD and it seems fine. I can drag and drop whatever I want. Can you explain/help? Thanks

What are the formats of both drives (NTFS, FAT32)?
If your trying to move a file greater than 4GB onto a FAT32 drive, then you may get an error:

The hard drive in the laptop is NTFS. On the WD external drive FAT 32. I checked and there are no files close to 4 GB in size.

You might want to read the last comment on this page (albeit an old article) regarding errors on Retrospect 6.5. Doesn't look like it got a lot of favorable user reviews:
