I have purchased an external logitec usb hard drive, and connected it to my computer using windows xp, as well as my laptop using mac osx. I formatted 2 partitions in the hfs plus format through the mac, and used a software called mac drive in xp to read and write onto the mac formatted drives. Everything was cool for a few days, and I began to transfer and add my windows data to backup on the external drive. One night I left the computer on overnight as I needed to download some heavy information from the web, and the download was coming through windows xp into the external usb hard drive. The next day I showed up at the computer, everything was fine, and I turned it off. Next time I started the computer though, it would simply crash and reboot automatically. I unplugged everything and then added them one by one until I found out that the computer crashes everytime I turn on the power to the external usb hard drive. When I boot up windows without the drive it loads up fine, but as soon as I turn on the hard drive, the computer begins to recognize it and then gives me the blue screen of death for about a second and moves right into rebooting. Can you please let me know if there is any hope or if I have lost all my data and need to reformat the external usb drive.
thank you for your help.
be well

So what's it do when you connect it to the Mac laptop? And have you tried reinstalling the software you use to read the Mac formatted drive?

When I conect it to the Mac laptop, the mac does not recognize my problematic partition as formatted,
but it does recognize a second partition I have made in the same external usb hard drive.I have tried reinstalling the software, but to no avail.
