external hd is no in my comp

i have a external hd ,which up till now when i plugged it in it showed up on my computer , i tried making a partition in it with partition magic it failed and now it doe'st come up on my computer when i plug it in ,i can access it through the partition magic program but through there i can only delete i cannot open the files , any ideas how i can repair whatever i have done wrong .thanks

saman, is it possible that partitioning made it look foreign to your machine and you simply need to leave it plugged in and reboot in order to let Windows find it? HTH. Ed in Texas.

Go to Control Panel\Administrative tools\manage my computer\\storage\disk management(local) and see if it appears in there.
If it does and the space is showing as unallocated then you will need to right on the unallocated space, select format and format it the file system will depend on the size, if it's 130GB+ then you will have to select NTFS, unless you partition the drive into 2 ore more sub 130GB partitions. if ntfs is ok the format it. after the format it should show in my computer.
