I purchased and external hard drive that took me forever to get to work. i could not format it thru disk amnagement because it could not see it. That is the normal way to do from what i was told and the manyfactures instructions. Somehow I finally got it done. I put my pictures in and photoshop, etc.
I woke up this morning and rebooted and it is no longer there!!!!!!!!!! The disk does not show up and I even checked disk amnagement and it is not there.
What do I do and why did this happen?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They appear fine with no conflicts. It was frustrating setting up this hard drive as the computer doesn't recognize it when you plug it in...no message such as "new hardware found, etc, etc.
It isn't even recognized by my other computer!

Hi all,

I hooked up my 20 gig EIDE drive to a USB expansion box and no matter how I set the jumper it would not work.

I finally remembered the last line of a posting here that said if all else fails try leaving the jumper off.

I did and it has been working with no problems since then.

Just a suggestion, good luck.

Bob

If you wake up to see the day - it can't be that bad.
