Happy 2008 to you all.

Hello Othehill and all, i have checked in Disc management, it shows the drive is under Drive N.
My drives only go upto M.

It used to be G.

What do i do to get it back to G, or at least another like L, M, H etc.

It shows as N also in Norton Ghost, cannot change it.

Thanks, GEP

Is G free? If so you should be able to change to G. If not allowed I wouldn't worry about it. Possibly Ghost needs to keep that drive letter for some reason.

One of the options in disk management is change drive letter assignment. Once in disk management highlight the drive in question> Action> all tasks> change drive letter.

Just happen to think, Ghost may be hiding the drive so you don't write to it. If you created a Ghost image, next time create a Ghost folder and image to that. Then you will still have access to the remainder of the drive. Let me know what you find. BTW, what version of Ghost are you using?

Hello OtheHill, G is free, went to Change it in Disc management, only goes up from N to Z.
Cannot change from G to M no choice, and the browse is greyed as well as other options.

Just had a look at a program i have called Tweak, it showed that i had unticked it. I have Ticked it again, apply, but still not showing.

What can i do?

Thanks for your help, GEP

Why would you remove drive letter option that you weren't using? I have no idea how you removed those letter options. I don't see why this would matter anyway. Is your system currently working correctly? Do you have the capability to burn CDR or DVDR? If so, and you want to fix this issue then first copy any and all personal files you wish to save to optical media and then you can perform a system restore. Do you have the packard bell restore set?

Hello Othehill, yes, a bit stupid to remove drive letters above M. Thought i would not need them, till computer changed drive letter from G to N by itself.

I can get it in Disk Management by rt clicking and choosing explore.

Would like to be able though to get it through My Computer.

Don't wish to go through the Packard bell restore option.

Thanks for your help, GEP

No matter what the letter assignment the drive should still appear in My Computer.

Did you try right clicking the drive in Disk Mangement and choosing Change drive letter> change letter> scroll in the window to a different letter> click OK.

... you should be able to boot to it via boot-up CD/floppy and ghost will see it. although you will more than likely have to initiate usb support on the CD.

... you could try the xp system restore method and maybe end up with the correct drives again?

Grrrr
wat do I know?
... got brain freeze

Hello Othehill, Mavis007, managed to ghost by using disk management, rt clicked on Drive N, choose explore, deleted the old ghost copy of C and D drives and have just finished ghosting.
So, at least i have been able to Ghost OK, and the copy is OK as well.

In disk management, only goes up from N upto Z i think, rest greyed out, no other choice.

Thanks for your help, happy 2008, as i write this just turned 00:4
