Hi can anyone tell me why I plug my external USB HDD into a USB2 port on my PC it will not detect - It shows up in safely remove hardware as a disk drive under "USB mass storage device" however if I plug the HDD into a USB 1.1 hub it is recognised but says that the device can perform faster if plugged into a USB2 port and displays all the ports on my PC as USB2 - I have tried plugging it in to all the ports on my PC but it will only work if plugged into the USB1.1 hub - I have re-installed all drivers to no avail - when it is plugged into the hub it shows up under "Disk Drive" as a generic volume and I can read all the data on it - any help much appreciated thanks
