I bought a external hard drive and it is now getting full so I would like to buy another hard drive to put in the enclosure case to be used externally. How would I need to format the newly bought hard drive for it to be read externally through my usb port for storage purposes? Hopefully my question is clear enough to understand. Thanks for any replies.

Hi, You will need to set the jumpers on the drive for Master, not cable select or slave. You will then need to partition and format the drive before you can use it. You should be able to do this in Control Panel Admin tools Computer Management. Storage Disk Management Or use thrid party tools hth Ceri
