External Drive Backup from Windows XP

It depends, how did you backup your stuff in Windows XP? Did you simply copy the files or did you right click your C: drive go to properties and run the NTBackup utility? If the later then it will be a little tricky because the restore utility will want to restore the files to c:\documents and settings\yourname\*.* and Windows 7 no longer uses the "documents and settings" folder it now uses the "users" folder. If possible I would go back and just copy the files directly to your external drive but if not then see if you have a friend who still has an XP box. Now Windows 7 has an Upgrade Utility which should backup your XP files in a way that they can be restored from Windows 7 but you have to run this before you blew away your XP box... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...
