I as several others are having problems with explorer.exe, but since I don't find a solution to my problem in any of the other threads I ask again. I get the problem when I start Windows Explorer. Soon explorer.exe use 100% of the cpu. I can kill it (of course) but then I also kill my desktop and I have to log off/in again in order to use my computer. I use XP build 2600 and I got plenty of cpu, memory etc. This happens every time I start explorer and I'm getting REAL tired of it...

I saw a post about this at a different forum:
Just start explorer.exe and choose "tools - folder options - view - and enable "launch each folder windows in a separate process!"
That should fix that!

Thx, I'll try it and hopefully it will work... Sounds a little strange though, but it's Microsoft :-)

Actually this will make the problem worse. The normal explorer.exe has a priority of normal. If you start explorer in a seperate process it defaults to HIGH. They still use 99% of the CPU only now your other programs can't get the priority to get enough time slices. This makes MP3's on my system pause and stutter.
