Explorer.exe is taking up too much ram 30mb to be exact. Is there a way to reduce this amount or just disable the program all together?

Thanks,
B

To reduce, right click on desktop choose properties, go to appearance, effects button, uncheck some of the unnecessary effects.

If you are sure you do not like explorer.exe:

Go to Start, Run, type regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Double-click Shell, change the value from explorer.exe to progman.exe

NOTE THIS WILL MAKE WINDOWS SIMILAR TO VERSION 3.1 WHEN IT BOOTS UP you will have to create prgram groups for all you applications.

If you want to change back to explorer.exe, go to the Program Manager's File menu, run, and go through the steps above and switch back.
