Comment: Every time I have been shutting down lately, I get the popup: Ending program: Explorer.exe I click end now to shutdown. Why is this happening?

Reply: It shouldn't to be fair, sounds like a possible problem with your rundll files. But thats a speculatoion! do u get a error message number?

Reply: hmm, in order for it to still be open a program running in exporer or binded to it must still be active. Basically i couldn't tell you, its to ambiguous.

Reply: I had the same problem and, after a bit of messing around, found that editing the register will get rid of the "End Now" box. You have to make 2 edits, one in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MicroSoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer and the other in HKEY_USER\.Default\Software\MicroSoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer. In both of these, you have to change the "ShutDown Setting" to 2. This gets rid of the box. Good luck.
