Explorer.exe error on my laptop

August 11, 2011 at 05:38:27
Specs: Windows XP, 980 MHz, 1.00 GB RAM
Most of the time when I turn on my laptop and log in to my user all I see is my background. No icons no task bar nothing at all except my background. When I open up Task Manager all the process's are running and using CPU usage as usual exept it obviously isnt working. I can open up other programs and still use my laptop by running a task from task manager. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Go here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_...

See Line #195 on the right "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar"

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Interesting suggestion.

Another way would be to use a Linux Live CD (such as Puppy Linux) to copy explorer.exe from C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 to C:\Windows

The file version number is the same.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
