Since a series of "security updates" from Microsoft have been installed I am seeing a lot of "error 1000" in explorer.exe and the desktop closes down and resets. The error event info is not helpful. The list of modules is very long.
I am seeing this on customer machines that I have updated to SP2+ so this error is "added" by the updates. I also notice in google that this explorer.exe error occurs on NT and 2000 as well so it is pointing in direction kernel. Does anyone have a clue here?
Thanks and regards,
Peter v

Have a look at the KB of Microsoft

Hi Bob,

Been there. Looks like a lot of these come from server or ISP or connection errors. I looked at the first 50 or so in the KB and I do not see any mention of explorer.exe. This error first appeared on my machine along with doctor watson32 error also. Now the explorer.exe just crashes. It looks like error "100" is a very general error. Since this occurs while I am working with files it is a local error and not "outwards". Since this error starts appearing on down-level XP PCs AFTER I update them with the missing 24+ updates I have to believe it is caused in the MS updates. I hope someone else has a handle on this since I hear it is happening everywhere.
Thanks and regards,
Peter v
