I've been having issues for several months now with brand new computers with explorer.exe not loading after you log on. You get the windows desktop with no icons and no errors. Task manager doesn't show explorer.exe running. To fix this, I either have to log off and manually run the explorer through task manager. My users are getting frustrated. :( What's been added to these systems are: map drives at login through gpedit, and symantec software.
What else is happening is old pc's that i had to reload xp pro on is having the same issue.
Not all new and old pc are having this issue. Is it a bug? I've utilize google search already. Any help would be great.

Your link is the same as all I google. Since there are new machinese and some of the old has been reloaded without any luck, the link you provide doesn't offer any help. But thanks for trying.
Has anyone encounter this issue. What other steps did you take to resolve it.
Thanks

I would suspect the media you are using is the issue. Could you elaborate that these are genuine Microsoft disks or not?

Well I can tell you I had this exact problem. I'm not sure that I can give you any help other then what I observed. It happened with a particular Acronis Image that I use to restore my pc in case of failure. After applying the image ,Explorer would never start on boot. So I would have to start it with the task manager. The only way for me to fix it was to reinstall XP and create a new image. I would think that explorer has become corrupted some how. Have you tried using your XP disc to do a repair?
try: Run Box > sfc /scannow
This will repair system corrupted file....make sure you update afterwards!
