Hi everyone, this is really annoying me...

I recently decided to restart my computer, after ZoneAlarm was having True Sector problems. After I restarted, none of the users on my computer are able to load explorer.exe. No desktop icons, no taskbar.

When I use Task Manager, and run 'explorer' I see the taskbar for half a second and it immediately disappears. I can run all my other programs just fine, whilst using Run.

HijackThis showed no odd startup programs, however I did disable some things that were not needed. However, to no success.

I tried SafeMode, but the same thing happened.

Any ideas, I really REALLY don't want to format again; I have had some other unrelated problems which resulted in format, I just purchased this computer a week ago.

I would give the HijackThis log, however I am at work; I will attempt to do so later.

Computer stats:

AMD64 3000+
160GB SATA HDD
1024MB RAM
K85-MX Motherboard
Windows XP Home, SP2

Cheers, I will give that a go when I return home from work. However, I don't know if I will be able to get the internet successfully running.

You can send ( or put on a floppy ) the log file to your work computer or a friends & get onto net that way.

Then print out the result & bring it home, or if with a friend, do it over the phone.

Well, I am home and simply used System Restore and restored it to yesterday afternoon. So obviously it was something that I did recently. Hehe.

But I am still getting the True Vector error from time to time for ZoneAlarm.

Any help?

Here are some links that should help.

The solution to this particular problem is to remove ZoneAlarm from your system, and then reinstall it.
