Ok so. I try logging into my laptop and i notice that explorer.exe keeps restarting on me. Sometimes it won't even restart, other times it will just not even load explorer.exe back up and it sits at a blank screen with only the wallpaper showing up on the screen. I try to ctrl + alt + del and guess what...the frickin task manager is disabled. So I try to take care of this problem in safe mode. I still...get the same problem. As soon as I begin to try anything the all the windows close and explorer.exe shuts down on me and closes everything. I've searched the forums for this problem for a while but really haven't found anyone with the same issue that im having. BTW im running Windows XP. Any suggestions?? I'm out of thoughts and formatting is not an option...

At some point in all this you might need the XP or OEM OS disk. If not you may be able to try a friends XP disk.

If you can get it booted, try the command sfc.exe /scannow.

Might consider a "repair" using an xp disk.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
