Ok, I have been expreiencing this problem in a type of random sort of way, and before u point me out to another topic about this, i have checked them all out and did all of their solutions (deleted the default file in the registry, removed norton from computer, etc.) and my explorer.exe program seems to go up to 100% whenever I go on AOL, AIM, or my music files. It seems to be random, because sometimes it would do this, and sometimes it would be fine. I have a celeron processor with Windows XP serivce pack 2 i believe. I have 52 GB of memory left in this computer so I don't think it's an issue with my memory, can somebody please help me?

You have 52GB of memory left? I think you mean 52MB, right? I also have this problem, but I still can't fix this problem because it is not always up to 100%. It just happen randomly, so it is quite hard to predict what cause it.

I worked on a laptop with this same problem. I had to keep the windows task manager open and keep turning IE off while I did spyware scans using:
Spybot S&D
Adaware SE
Spyware Blaster
The above were all done while being disconnected from the internet and the progs were all up-dated prior to running them. Then I installed Avast! and uninstalled Norton 2005...Avast found some viruses Norton missed. Then I installed Sygate firewall and went back on-line and did a free
On-line Spyware Scan
The whole process took almost 6 hrs to complete, because of IE shooting up to 100% and stalling things.
When I was done, he was on DSL and flying...all worked well and it's been over 3 months without another incidence.Oh I also turned off system restore till I had the laptop running fine, then I put the restore back on.
Hope that helps you....Good Luck
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

As an add to what XPuser4real said, you might try to check what tool bars you have installed for surfing and also what pop-up blocker programs that you have running.
Google for BHOdemon and install it to have it remove any Browser Helper Objects as these are known to cause issues such as this.

Get ProcX (under free downloads) here: http://www.ghostsecurity.com/. Startit up then look for which program is causing the CPU to go to 100%, maybe you can weed it out...

Well, did any responses work for you?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
