My computer works fine until i click on my computer or windows explorer. The CPU usage goes up to 100% and everything lags. Is there anything i can do except for format? I'm begging for help...thanks a lot.

p.s. i tried deleting some registry keys as written in other similar problems but nothing helps. Explorer just makes the mouse busy for a few seconds but it never opens.

I am encountering the same problem. XP cannot open Windows Explorer, My Computer, and Control Panel after performing a normal startup. However, when I launch XP in safe mode, I have access to everything; which leads me to believe that there is something embedded in msconfig, causing this problem during startup. I've already run all of the spyware programs and antivirus software. I don't know what else to do. How exactly is the "RightMark Memory Analyzer" supposed to help this problem. I don't understand how that program would deal with an error in the Startup of Windows XP. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!!!

Looks like a growing epidemic. It seems to happen to me after I disconnect an internet connection. Also, when shutting down I get a proxy desktop error message. What the heck is proxy desktop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
