Explorer starts at bootup

At some point after I installed XP, I noticed Windows Explorer automatically starting up at bootup. Initially, I thought that was becos I had left an Explorer window open on the previous shutdown. But after a while, I realized that no matter what I did, Exploere will startup at boot and always defaulting to a particular folder on my D: drive.
Now, I've checked all the "Run" keys in the registry and also my "Start Up" folder but I can't seem to find anything that might be starting up Explorer.
I'm mystified and would like to know if anyone has come across this problem and what the fix might be.

not this again...It use to happen to me with Windows Me and it was after i installed zonealarm or Mcafee or Norton, cant remember which one but i am runnin Xp now and im using the updated zonealarm and updated Norton 2002 and havent had a problem...I guess u will have to ask yourself if u installed anything recently...Good luck

I did install McAfee VirusScan 6.0 and the problem started appearing after that! Maybe I'll try uninstalling that to see if it'll go away.
