Malu: XP crashes can be caused by;
1. sound card with Aureal 8820 chipset.
2. themes.
disable themes across the computer by turning off the Themes service.
disable themes in the affected programs by calling SetThemeAppProperties.
3. Hotfix Q317277. if found in Add and Remove Programs in Control Panel, remove it.
4. Update Q323255, on the other hand, will help stop system crashes...make sure you have it.
5. scan for adware, spyware and viruses.
6. update your sound and video drivers.
7. faulty RAM. download and run MemTest86 from:

8. a computer will crash if the processor overheats.
make sure the CPU fans are working and your computer case has adequate ventilation.
9. power supply...upgrade to a 350w or 400w power supply.
