Hello,
Recently my "explorer bar", the grey screen at the bottom of the screen with quick launch, start, etc will disappear for a couple seconds after I start internet explorer, then it'll boot back up and icons will slowly start to come back in the bottom right. When I try to go to an internet page, internet explorer locks up, a I can only end it by using task manager. Then I usually have to restart because my whole computer is frozen. No error messages of any sort come up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There area few things that you might want to do.
Use CCleaner to clean all the garbage that has accumulated over a period of time.
Then clean the registry using Regseeker.
Finally defrag your hard drive.
Upgrade to IE7 if you haven't already done so.
Google for the above programs.

I tried all that and it still doesn't work. I didn't upgrade to internet explorer 7 because I also noticed it just does it if i hit the start button with no programs open. I also had run adaware and mcafee virus search, I found a couple items, but the problem persists. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

It appears that IE6 is not the problem. What virus checker are you using? The free Avast is very good and would be worth running through your system. If you do try it, make sure that you turn off any other that you might have running.
Also try Advanced Windows Care, it might resolve the problem. http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindow...
If the problem is resolved then I would suggest that you install IE7 to avoid getting malware.

I ran the advanced windows care, and it resolved some problems, but it's still happening. I did figure out when it freezes I can just "end task" on explorer and then restart explorer instead of having to restart my computer. I have mcafee virus scan and it found a couple items, but nothing major. Any other ideas, and thanks in advance!

It's possible that your OS is corrupted. Use the guidelines from the following link to run a repair. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/X...
Scroll down to the XP repair section and follow the instructions. It's quite simple and you should not experience any problems. However, make sure that you backup your data before proceeding with the repair.
