I have noticed, over the past week, that I can no longer use my right click on anything (files, folders, recycle bin etc). If I do, the egg timer starts to spin for about 15 seconds, explorer crashes, then it all reappears with any windows folders I had open now closed.
I have gone back through the system restore but am having trouble getting one to work for me, so I removed all programs I installed in the last week that I could see listed in the restore points. This did nothing!
Is there a fix for this? Or is there an app where I can go in and see exactly what is in my context menus so I can see whats new and get rid of it?
Thanks

well, i think this is a job for super sfc!
go to start and run and type in CMD
in the cmd window type in
sfc /scannowHave you XP CD in, and it'll run itself, replacing any missign or damaged XP files. good luck.
faster, better, MORE!!

From what I've learned on the net recently, WinXP SP2 has compatibility issues with some third-party programs. Apparently, the programs Dr. DivX and Webroot Spy Sweeper are the two causes because of the way work with the Windows right-click context menu.
I had Spy Sweeper, disabled the context menu support, and everything worked fine. Another computer I have running WinXP SP2 didn't have the program loaded, and hadn't been experiencing any of these crashes.
For Dr. DivX, if you can get into the program and disable the Windows Explorer context menu ability (don't have the program, so I don't know), then that should fix the problem. Subject is discussed in the DivX forums here: http://forums.divx.com/viewtopic.php?topic=60461&forum=24
I hope this helps.

yes the problem seems to be the compatibility issue of SP2 with programs like Dr.Divx and Spy Sweeper.i also had the same problem i removed the entries of both these progies from the right click context menu and the problem is solved.
