I have a friend with a computer with xp Pro. I did some work on it the other day and when i booted it up. it came up with a password box and said i have 5 days to change the password before it expired. Well my friend turned it on today and it says that the password has expired and you need to enter the old password and a new password to get it into windows. My friend never at anytime put any password in, and dosnt know where it came from. Can someone please help. I need to get this computer working as it is a business computer.
If he never used a password then just leave it blank and click ok...or old password space leave blank and if you want a password then type new one in and confirm.
login as the Administrator click Start, the RUN type control userpasswords2 click the ADVANCED tab. under ADVANCED USER MANAGEMENT, click ADVANCED. click on the USERS folder. on the right side of the window, look for his/her login name and double click it. place the check mark in PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES, then click OK and reboot.
