exe's run in notepad

Hi, im trying to help out my bro. His computer runs all .exe's in notepad. Hes tried doing a system restore but it of course runs it in notepad. I have checked his file type settings but i cant even find the exe in their. Everything is set to how it should be. If anyone can help me that would be great. I dont know how this forums works so if it emails me on replies thats great if not can you email me at blake.403@gmail.com Thanks

That doesnt make a lot of sense. Notepad is a text editor and is itslef an .exe. All it can do is load, save, edit and print a text file.
Need a little more information.

Blake, You could go to the link below and download the "EXE File Association Fix". Download the ZIP and open it. Extract the REG file to your hard disk and double click it. Answer yes to the import prompt.
Hopefully his zip & reg file associations haven't been hosed.

Hi, well tried your links but sadly they didnt work :(, however he did create a new account and has transfered most his stuff over and so far so good. I look it up and i guess its a notepad virus. His norton didnt catch it, but thanks anyways. If any of you know how to get rid of this virus or have any more ideas plz post them here. Thanks.
