when i double click on an exe file it says it cannot be found and check the path and such...however if i right click it and choose run as current user it works fine. i checked to make sure that hkkeyclassesroot-exefile-shell-open-command was set to "%1" %*

what did you originally do to create this problem? the obvious answer is to reverse that process.

Did you check if the quotes are in place?

hkkeyclassesroot-exefile-shell-open-command

right pane in regedit should show
default value ""%1" %*"

If you forgot the quotes around %1, the OS will call "c:/program" with argument "files/thedir/theprog.exe" instead of "c:/program files/thedir/theprog.exe" with argument ""
