Not sure what I am doing wrong?

In excel, I have a list of numbers (eg2,3,4). I then use the sum formula to add the numbers (answer 9), but when I change one of the numbers (eg2,4,4) my answer doesnt automatically update to 10 like I need it to

This usually happens when the Automatic Calculation option is disabled. To Enable this

Office 2003:

Tools >> Options - Should be able to find a option there called 'Workbook Calculation' - Enable it to AUTOMATIC

Office 2007:

Hit the Office Button - Excel options (down the bottom) - Under 'Formulas' enable 'Workbook Calculation to ' AUTOMATIC.
