Solved Everything on my xp appears to large.

Specs: Windows XP
I have a dell latitude d600, refurbished i just got it a few months ago and it runs windows xp. My brother has one thats exactly the same, but everything on mine seems to be alot larger. The blue bar at the bottom, the internet toolbars, the url, the icons, the very first log in menu, the fonts, everything. I've read a few things and it seems like the screen resolution would be the problem, but mine is as far to the right as it will go.

I don't know if his is normal and mine is too big, or mine is normal and his is too small, but when i view some online pictures on his i could see the whole picture, and then on mine the images where too big, i had too scroll around to see the whole thing and they seemed zoomed in too far because the edges looked a little grainy.

I have pressed ctrl 0 and held ctrl because i read that too, realizing that that would bring my screen back to normal if it was zoomed in, but since everything is proportionately larger i dont think that is the problem.

I have played toontown on mine and a few of the farm frenzys, but i would think that if the screen resolution changed so i could play them that i would then be able to change it back, but like i said my screen resolution is as far to the right as it goes. It's 1024 by 768.

If you tried the resolution so far to the right and its only at 1024x768, then the correct graphics drivers are not installed.

Go to and look that laptop up and download the graphics drivers and you'll be fine.

I miss those laptops.. they don't make them like that anymore.

If i go to advanced in display properties and then monitor i can uncheck a box that says hide modes that this monitor can not display, then the screen resolution bar gets a lot larger, but when i adjust it more to the right the screen is larger than my laptop screen and i have to scroll around, even on my desktop.

Would that sill be a graphics driver? and also what is a graphics driver?

The icons and everything that's too large aren't HUGE, they are just annoyingly a little too large, so i figure it was some setting on my computer that i could change. Like when filter keys is accidentally enabled or something.

Don't uncheck that box, no, leave it checked. That is used as an accessibility option (people who can't see clearly).

A driver is a file full of information that tells your machine how to interpret a piece of hardware, in this case, its the visuals to your machine.. your graphics. So when you go on Dell's website, you will see a download there for graphics/video drivers, and that's what you need.

The screen resolution should be either 1024 x 768 or 1400 x 1050, depending on the model. And someone might have changed the DIP setting.
