event viewer msg - drive image &fax

Comment:
In XP's event viewer I repeatedly get an information message about drive image 7.0 followed by a warning message that microsoft fax initiated/terminated (my external modem is normally turned off). These seem to occur during long boot delays. The 'properties' for drive image is "V2i Protector service started successfully" and the 'properties' for the fax warning message says "Fax Service failed to initialize any assigned fax devices (virtual or TAPI). No faxes can be sent or received until a fax device is installed". Any thoughts what is causing these and how to stop them? I'm not trying to do anything with either Drive Image or faxes just now. Thanks.

PS. neither drive image nor MS fax are referred to in the startup section of start/run/msconfig.

Go to the programs themselves to look for an option "do not run at startup" or similar. There could also be a registry entry that tells them to start.

Thanks JohnO, the (winXP) answer turned out to be to look in Control Panel/ Admin Tools/ Services where I found that fax service, Drive Image's v2i Protector (whatever that is) and a bunch of other non-essential stuff, was set up to start automatically on boot-up. I researched on the internet which services should be automatic/manual/diabled and that seems to have solved this particular problem. The messages no longer appear in control panel/ admin tools/ event viewer.
