Has anyone figured out how to get MS's event viewer errors out of the closet?
I've unsuccessfully poked around trying to figure a way to at least hear an error sound or (wow) a popup for 'MS alerts' being logged in the event viewer (that could be a new oximoron).
Oddly none of the freeware Event Viewer app's seem to offer such a highly useful part of what should be already included for that tool.
I have IMAPI CD-ROM Burning Service that keeps stopping and until I figure out what's doing it, I'd like to not have to have the viewer open 24-7 to notify me when IMAPI' is stopping.
Assuming an alert for a service stopping creates some sort of detectable performance issue, maybe Windows Performance Monitor could be used, but that thing's too techie for me to figure out.

Most services can be viewed and have their settings changed. There are a few choices that allow one to keep the system running. See here to start.

The issue isn't really the service as much as why it keeps stopping.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Thanks for the tip. I forgot about that site. It helped immensely.
