Hi all. i cant get my cable modem to work using my ethernet connection..

its a motorola surfboard 4200.
my motherboard has built in ethernet, its an nforce 2 motherboard...

modem works fine in usb mode. can access internet. im using it now on my laptop using usb. but it works fine on the problem machine in usb mode too.

its really irritating because i want it to work on ethernet on the p.c.

ive tried changing drives to older versions and newer versions, no joy. the connection is recognised on the computer but there is no internet traffic. it used to work on ethernet but there was initially a problem setting it up which i cant remember how i solved.

mac addresses shouldnt be an issue my isp no longer needs you to register different ones.

any ideas as its driving me up the wall?

4200 is listed on this page.

You probably just need to reset it to the factory defaults.
