I recently reformated my computer for the first time. I got Windows XP reinstalled fine, but now I can't connect to the internet. I checked the Device Manager and it says that there are 3 things that don't have drivers. Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, and Video Controller are the names of them. It couldn't find the required drivers on the Resource CD that I got from Dell. Basically, first of all I want to find out if that Ethernet Controller is what isn't allowing me to connect to the internet, and second of all where I can find these drivers.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Larry
Nice to meet up again - long time.

Thought I should mention that I've found Belarc rather inclined to report the "drivers installed" (even if wrong) rather than the actual hardware.

Aida32 (replaced by Everest) definitely reported on actual hardware but is no longer a freebie. This link to the earlier freebie still works though:
AIDA32

I think there's a link to the later Everest freebie out there somewhere but the above is just as good.

Go to the Dell web site. Search for your model of computer. You will find all the drivers your need there.

yeah the last post is the easiest, if you havent changed your hardware, go to dell and enter your service tag and it will list the hardware for you.

Derek,

Nice to see you also. I agree, Everest is better at finding the actual hardware, but not being free anymore is a bit of pain.

And I agree about the Dell service tag. Easiest way if it's still in the basic configuration.
