Hello,
I was messing with a custom Log-in screen for Windows so I messed up and couldn't logg in.
I ran the Repair option off the Win XP SP2 cd I have. My computer gets in a loop and keeps rebooting itself to the same spot when installing Windows: the 34 minute marker.
I took the CD off and now I get this error for all the times it was in the loop:
"Setup encountered an error while trying to set system security. An extended error has occurred."
I just want to get in my system. Any programs or bootable thing that I can get this to work?
Any thoughts/help?

Posted your error message into Google & got 1m+ hits. Here's an extract from one of them...
"This can sometimes occur because the file was not properly created during the CD to disk stage or subsequently when extracted from the disk copy to WIndows directory
This can be caused by a multitidue of things: most when there is a pirated or backup Windows installation disk and not a genuine Microsoft CD. Also it can be because of device failure such as an AGP card not 100% seated correctly - oh yes: you can get a good clean display, but when it is installing XP and pushed to the limit, a bad connection will cause the system to hang and then fail to install
You can also get this problem with an inadequate power supply. Yeah the sytem could have been functioning fine 38 minutes ago under Win98, but it just won't play ball when attempting to do an upgrade install XP."
Lost more info on the WWW
Good luck
