My Zoom DVD Player Standard trial version expired yesterday however it has left me with the follow error window that pops up:
Error!
"Your system clock appears to have been set back, possibly in an attempt to defeat the security system on this program. Please correct your system clock before trying to run this program again. If your clock is correct, please contact the author of this program for instructions on correcting this error (report code 0,60770,1965)."
Now whenever I open any program whatsoever, I have this error window pop-up with the same comment telling me that my system clock has been tampered with. I only have the option to click 'ok' making the message disappear and returning control of the system to me. I don't know what the error message is talking about, I even haven't touched my system clock! It is perfectly fine and has always been fine. I even synchronised it online with the windows server via the clock properties to make sure. I deleted every instance of Zoom Player and its files on my system and even did a search through my entire registry but it found no instances of Zoom Player.I have also performed a anti-virus scan and spy-ware scan but neither obtain any virus/spyware results. I read on a few search results I found that other people have experienced the same problem and all cases related to trial software. So this is definitely a problem with the Zoom Player trial software as I have not installed any other trial software on my system.
This is so frustrating, I really would appreciate any help as I'm dying to get rid of this annoying error message. Thanks!

Ummm... the error as you describe it, seems to be generated by that program, and not by XP...
This is sortof "the hard way" if you're not experienced with computers... but I'd use these two programs to find out which file (or maybe registry-key) is generating the message-box. You'll see lots of info in the monitor-boxes, so only 'fix' something if you are 100% sure it is related to that ZoomPlayer program. Never make random changes in the registry!
▫ FileMonitor & RegMonitor (SysInternals)Easier ways may include looking for an uninstall program for ZoomPlayer on the web. Also, there is probably a small program that starts up when XP loads, which then produces these messages. Use this program to look at the programs getting started:
▫ StartUp Control Panel (Mike Lin)It could even be a service that was installed by ZoomPlayer. Type services.msc into the run-box and go through the list of services. If you see one that is clearly related to ZoomPlayer, then rightclick it for properties, and stop & disable the service.
Ask here if you want verify something before removing it. I don't know the Zoom Player program, so maybe someone else will know a better way of dealing with it...

Seems like its its copy protection gone wrong. The zoom people should help you. Email them.
assuming zoom uses the same thing as this company which sounds likely. apparently there is something loading...which means zoom player trial is NOT completly uninstalled. look for it in your registry.

I had the same problem after playing with the clock in XP.
I have investigated the problem using a registery monitor,
a file access monitor, and some other tools. Finally i choosen
to use the program Softice, a debugger. I have searched in
the memory for the string: "Your system clock" and found it.
Around this string, I had many strings:
audio converter trial... fingerprint.... the ok button will be enabled in... reqbuild trial, dbde5-e5d3...server build etc...As I have seen the string audio and converter, I tried to open Audio
Converter, mine was Audio Converter 1.4 Trial. The first thing
I have seen is the tiring MessageBox! I have uninstalled Audio Converter
and now everyting is fine! no more MessageBox.I have wrote a e-mail to the compagny who made Audio Converter
to tell them, that this problem is a real "pain in the ass".SOLUTION: Uninstall Audio Converter.

Firstly SVG, I tried following your "hard way" version to figure out where on earth this error message is coming from but it is so hard to document/follow exactly what is happening. However I did try them both progs out by doing a small test.
I tried the "File Monitor" prog first. I started monitoring then double clicked my Internet Explorer Icon which would cause the error message to pop-up (any prog would have done). After "ok-ing" the error message I went back to the File Monitor software and haulted the monitoring. I looked back to see which files were accessed right before IE was launched and it produced these location:
c:\ "c:\program files\zoom player 400b2pro\zplayer.exe" "%1"
Now I had already deleted every instance of zoom player on my system including in the regedit. I'm not to sure what the "%1" means either but it is unsearchable.
The Registry Monitor prog is a little too complicated for me to follow at the moment. However, something tells me that this error message may have something to do with my Services running on my pc. I have checked the services to make sure any new ones have been added but everything seems fine. What makes me think it could relate to these services however, is because I was having some problems using the automatic update function on the clock settings to synch the time with windows service. It kept on giving me an RPC error. So I checked these services and Windows Time services and made sure all were started. The synch was then able to occur and now operates fine. For some reason it originally haulted one of the RPC services after attempting an update and I would have to restart it but now it works fine.
I have used every possible spyware/antivirus scanner/shredder available but it finds nothing. My system processes are all normal and nothing is running strange.
I agree I do think it is copy protection gone wrong and in my original post I stated that others have posted similar error messages with trial software. I too thought Zoom player wasn't completely uninstalled which is why I carried out the regedit search but nothing came to light.
Yes, thanks for the extra post..I did find the Quebec guys message yesterday and tried it but my registry once again finds nothing.
I have emailed Zoom but they haven't replied. I seriously would like to know what on earth is this error message and why so secret?!

I downloaded the ".exe" version of Zoom Player which doesn't have an uninstall file so I had to just delete the folder and search through the registry to see if I could find any instances of it. Therefore I could not use the add/remove option which would have been better.
I have also tried downloading the ".zip" version of Zoom Player as I have just realised that this version does have an uninstall option. So I install the program again restarted, uninstalled it the proper way (add/remove) and then restarted windows. But it didn't work, I'm still getting this message :(!!!

1) Open a commandprompt, and type this:
tasklist /M
look for processes & .dll files that might be related2) Check the subfolders of c:\Program Files\Common Files for any references to ZoomPlayer. Search your system for files created on the same day you installed ZP
3) Download & run HijackThis. Do a scan with it, and look through the results for any ZP reference.

Thanks again SVG but still no solution :( This damn thing is so strange, I just can't figure out what is causing the error. I ran HijackThis but all is fine.
One thing that is of note, I can load up Windows in "Safe Mode" and be able to open any program I want without the error message popping up. I can even use the "Safe Mode" with network capabilities and still no error pops up.
I would love to know where it is coming from. Zoom Player support have replied saying that it isn't the player causing the problem but possibly a third-party codec/decoder. So I unregistered all my codecs/decoders and started fresh but the error is still there ahh!

Ok I just tried something else, I opened up Internet Explorer and of course got the error message. This time I didn't click ok and instead opened up task manager. I clicked on the "applications" tab and it showed that "error" was open. So I right clicked this "error" application in task manager and selected "go to process". This took me to the explorer.exe process.

I found some other links to similar errors on the web, these two were the closest to being a possibility:
1) Norton AV 2004 Pro <<No mention of the error on Norton's site, though. But I do know there have been folks on here complaining about the 2004 edition.
2) A program called lcdc <<could be interesting - it's also about video stuff...

If you get a clock back error while trying to run LCDC, this is due to the built in security thinking that your trying to fiddlle it . Please mail me the full error code (tells me what you've been doing!) and I can send a small code to fix it. (Matthew@DPS.uk.com)

SysInternals also has a proggy called ProcessExplorer. Kinda like TaskManager, but with heaps more info about each process. Start ProcessExplorer, then try to get the error again. Select the error's process in the top pane, and then look through the bottom pane's info to maybe get some clues. Codecs can be .dll or .exe files -I think.I'm gonna look around some more though...

Try this silly thing:
Doubleclick the clock on the taskbar, and go to the "Internet Time" page, and do a sync with a time-server. Maybe that'll kick the error...

UNBELIEVEABLE! The error is no more! It is FIXED! Yaaaaaahoooooo!
I basically uninstalled every single codec/decoder that was on my system. I also found a couple of 'codec packs' which are apparently (from what I have read on the net) really dodgy. In addition to uninstalling these things, I uninstalled a few programs which I were relatively new. I found a trial program that wasn't in my start menu but in my c:\program files folder called "WinTasks". I didn't even know I had that damn thing on there.
Anyway after removing all these things, the error message is no more!!! SVG, I guess by uninstalling the WinTask program probably did the job. It is very similar to the program that you mention by SiSInternals. Even though I had already fixed my problem before reading your suggestion in your last post, I have to thank-you so much!!! If I had not found a solution by myself, I would have resolved everything from your last post. So I am most grateful for your help, time and effort! Oh God, you don't understand how happy I am now that it works with no annoying errors.

I was checking my date /time while booking a recent flight and once done, I am now getting the same message. It is driving me crazy!!!!!! It also slows my system and causes iexplore.exe to hang....I'll try the above, but so far no luck!! Help!!!
