Solved Error opening Windows Media Player

August 31, 2011 at 09:35:53
Specs: Windows XP
When I try to use Windows Media Player on my computer( XP version 5.1.2600), I get the following message " The file wmp.dll has a version of where was expected Windows media player is not installed properly and must be re-installed"

When I then reinstall it from the Microsoft site, I get exactly the same message .

I am not good with computers and know ver little ,having started only after I retired, and I do not know that to do to use my CDs

I would be most grateful for help. Thanks in advance.

Thank you
I have followed what you told me to do but I am afraid that I get exactly the same answer as before.
