Error Opening HTML File on Desktop

Comment:
I am trying to open up an HTML file on my Desktop and I am getting the following error "Windows can not find ........ . Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search ....."
It allows me to go into the file so it can find it but I get the previous erroneous message first. More than anything it is a nuisance and annoying. HELP!

Have a look at the HTML in notepad. There is a simple error in it.

BurrWalnut,
It is happening in all of my HTML files so I doubt if it is file specific.

The weird thing about my error is when I have an internet window open and I try accessing the HTML file on my harddrive the error doesn't happen but when I don't have the Internet session open I get Windows can not find c:\....\file.html. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search ....."

It must be an option then. I can't remember where but the wording is something like "Show IE on the desktop...."

Any HTML file on my hard drive in addition to my Desktop has this problem. It is not a shortcut to an HTML file on the web on my desktop which is giving me the problem.

I can't think of anything else, it must be something simple.
Could it be as simple as HTML files are not associated with IE? Just to be sure have a look in Folder Options, File Types.

Nope, not that either. That is the first thing I checked. It's more of a nuisance than any thing else. The weird thing is when I am viewing a webpage on the internet using IE it's fine but when I view an HTML file I designed on my C-drive that is when I have the problem but when I already have a webpage open and then open the one on my C-drive I don't get the error message. WEIRD.
