error opening any movie file

I have recently gotten an error opening any movie file in either real player, or windows media player, it opens on other computers on the network and not mine, I have reformatted my computer and still happens. Anyone have this happen or know what else I can do?

wut kind of movies, do oyu have all the right vidio and audio codecs installed. Divx ect

I have all the newest codecs installed for divx and everything, any mg's or avi's i just get an error msg that forces windows media player or real player to quit
