Hi All,
Finally, a question that relates to my computer and not someone else's that I'm trying to fix!!
Recently, after I got broadband, I downloaded all the Windows updates from Microsoft. Ever since then, I'd say about 75% of the web pages I visit come up with "Error on page" in the bottom left hand corner (there's one there as I type!) and the error is normally something along the lines of "Expected ';'" or "Expected '{'" or expected } or : or ", always expecting something that isn't there.
While the majority of pages still show, it normally affects the page by making the layout not right (wrong font size, etc) or that anything embedded (drop down menu's and the likes) in the site unusable, even the Windows update site is unusable!
I have no (apparent) viruses and there doesn't appear to be any hijacking nasties going on.....anyone had the same problem or am I just the black sheep?

There are a few things you can try.
First you need to go to internet options and change the security settings back to default levels.
Then in the general tab of internet options click the settings tab for temp files and make sure that the line is checked for automatically look for newer versions of the pages.
one other thing is to get into device manager and click on the port settings. One of them should be your printer port it is the other one(s) we want so highlight and double click to open and under port settings tab open the bits/second all the wayand then change the flow control to hardware.now click on the advance tab and adjust the two sliders all the way to the right.now apply/and OK out. Do that to all communications ports. then reboot and see if that helps.IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE,

in matters of principle,

Thanks lurks, I'll give it a go and see how it works out.
Thanks also for some help you gave me in an earlier post in regards to dual booting. You said get some third party software (not sure what it was now) and it was the only thing that I could get to work, so kudos! Let's hope it's two in a row!
