Comment:

I recently changed keyboards. I have an hp. When I purchased it, it had a program called an extended keyboard that had multimedia functions in it. Well, I tried to delete this program in my add/delete program section. I thought it was deleted. When I turned the computer on the next day, I get an error message saying that "HP extended Keyboard Error"
"The underlying service is not installed or running. To completely uninstall program use Windows add/delete program"
When I try to uninstall it again it says "error string product_name was not found in string table"
How can I keep the first error message from coming up when I start windows?????It requires an extra step to get the computer running to click the close box.
Thanks
Ray

you could just go into msconfig and disable the application so it doesnt load on boot, that would probably sort it

I looked at msconfig but am not sure what program would load it...how can one tell? I don't want to disable something I might need.I tried relading the drivers but no help! I tried restoring the computer to the last time I know I didn't get the message but even that doesn't work.

I found a way to disable it in the msconfig!
I did it by trial and error.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
