Hiya,

I have cable guide software(Gemstar) that came with my ATI tuner and I can not get it to load.

Towards the end of installation, it gives me a error message that reads,

In the blue title bar it reads "Severe"...

and underneath in the message pane it reads...

"Merging The Configuration File C:\DOCUME~1\Uknown\LOCALS~1\Temp\{99d34763-7E45-4FE5-8424-28DBC3A5F0BF}\IDAPI32.CNF Has Failed.1"

This is the exact wording from the message. The capitol letters and everything.

So, I go to C:\Documents and Settings\Uknown\Local Settings\Temp(?) and erase everything that was in the folder and I still get the same error message even though there is nothing in the folder(I have selected in the Tools Options in Explorer for hidden files to be shown.

Any helpful suggestions on how to resolve this software problem?

What ATI AIW card do you have? Did the Gemstar come with the current card? I'm not sure Gemstar is compatible with Media Center Edition. Have you had it working with MCE before?

I works, but I haven't figured out what programs conflicts with it.

I can use it if I have just MCE loaded but I did not check as I kept loading programs as to which program made it stop working.

I removed it, then tried to reinstall and that is when I got the message.

I can press on the program icon but it will not load.

I think it was for a ATI PCI Wonder. Used to have one about 7 years ago.

It does work with MCE, just it is conflicting with a program that I have loaded and use, as I use all my programs at least once/week.

I seen on the tv that MCE has a program listing, but I think that you need to have a tv tuner installed or something cause I can't find it when I open the media center
