Hi everyone.Recently I managed to do something to this computer and now when I reboot i get a box saying...error loading C:\WINNT\System32:pgwdvz.dll specified module could not be found... Ive been to 4 different dll download websites with no luck.Ive searched the archives of this site and also tried to find it in Microsofts site ( don't know if I did it correctly before giving up on the Microsoft site )So far everything seems to run fine but am curious what it is and if I can restore it.My computer is Win XP Home 1.8ghz and 512 ram.Thanx everyone!

Have you tried going to Start/run and typing SFC /scannow ? Have your XP disk in the CD drive when you do it. It will check and replace any missing or damaged system files. I'm just not sure if this includes dll's.

I think it is spyware....Spybot S&D is my choice. You can find it here

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Also, if you can, try a system restore to a date previous to the problem. HTH

If you need a simple solution, try mine. I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Changes in registry can be FATAL! I now have a 95% success rate!

Hi everyone,,I tried the SFC/scannow but it wouldnt work.I browsed the xp cd but couldn't find a pgwdvz.dll.I have three spyware programs and one of them ( Webroots Spy Sweeper ) is set to scan everynite and it hasnt seen anything. I will scan with Spybot also and see what happens. Now that you mention spyware I wonder if when I deleted some spyware recently if that was the cause of this problem. Also I was hoping to not have to do a system restore.Thanx for all the suggestions I will continue to research this.Like I say everything seems to work so it isnt a huge problem. Take care!!
