error loading operating system on my desktop

Specs: Windows Xp service pack 2
I have windows XP service pack 2 on my desktop PC. After installing Acronis software, rebooted my computer, I am getting "error loading operating systems" message. How to recover from this? has anyone got a solution?

All you did was install the mentioned software? Did you run it too? If the software a legal copy or a torrent?

I bought the Acronis back up software. It is genuine copy. I didn't run it.

I didn't attempt to restore the image as the image of the drive was not created.
I think the installation of Acronis may have corrupted system files.

According to Acronis requirements your OS meets them.

I don't understand why this would happen. Where did you buy the copy? How do you know it is genuine? I am not accusing you of anything, but you may have gotten a pirated copy. Even then I don't understand why it would act as it is.

Did you also register the copy during the installation?

Right now I suggest you try booting into Windows safe mode (F8 at start up). Do you have another OS besides WinXP installed?

Had it been some time since you last rebooted your computer?
