Hi,
I just installed Windows XP pro, and when I tried to install Office 2000 I got an error just before the installation procedure was over. The setup program seemed to have installed all files and shortcuts to the hard disk, but just after it finished copying the files it gave me an error message. I tried running the applications to see if they were installed correctly, and they seemed to be running with no problem, except for Excel which gave me an error telling me that a font was missing and asked me to run a "Repair" command from the Help menu. I run the command but the setup program couldn't complete and it uninstalled the whole application from my PC!
By the way, I was logged as Administrator when I was installing. Also I was able to install Office 2000 previously on Windows ME without a problem.Anyone have an idea about how I can fix this on XP?
Regards.

Hello.
Office 2000 should run just fine in Windows XP according to what i've heard and read, BUT ONLY IF you install SR-1a UPDATE from micro$oft site.
so sr-1a is the way to go.
I didn't even try to run Office programs before i updated. Now everything runs smoothly.

Hi again. I just installed the latest critical updates and service pack from Microsoft Windows Update web site, and tried to install Office 2000 Premium again, but I kept getting the same error!!
What shall I do?Here are the 3 error messages I got when the setup program aborted:
- Installer terminated prematurely
- Internal Error 2755: Please contact product support for assistance.
- Installation ended prematurely because of an error.

I don't know if this will work or not, but I had a similiar problem installing Office 2000 on XP. about 6 errors came up! anyway, I went out and bought Norton Systemworks 2002. Then I went to the Utilities, Find and fix problems Norton Windoctor ran some tests. Man, I had plenty of errors! Then I clicked repair all. Then restarted my computer, then installed Office 2000 again and this time it worked! I haven't had any problems yet.

Kevin, you're a gem. I had error message 1919 MS Access dtbase component not found in registry. After running Norton 2002 Windoctor and fixing also a multitude of other errors, message still appeard but I was able to click on ignore and program installed ok from there. No significant problems since then. Thanks Kevin! Hope it works for you Conan
